BIO
I’m an emerging artist working from a Goolugatup Heathcote studio. I was born and raised in Western Australia, and am interested in our experiences of place and ways we connect to the natural world. Including both urban and natural environments. Having formally trained in design and community development, I now work primarily as a printmaker, public artist and arts professional. Despite several evolutions over the past decade, my practice has always been rooted in a love of drawing and intuitive use of line, shape and pattern. My earlier work explores the evolution of landscapes, biodiversity and the significance of plant species to place or local narratives. Most of which can be found painted onto walls across metro and regional WA, with an generous catalogue of public art commissions - including projects for many of WA’s leading street art trails and festivals. I’ve spent the last three years redeveloping my visual language into something (I think) more eloquent, emotively nuanced and, if nothing else, more aligned to my true view of the world. This recent work leans into more abstract representations of familiar details, uncanny curiosities and the fleeting moments found in the world around us. Applied in patterns and textures to surfaces for gallery contexts, and across urban environments. Details become new terrain. Textures like a relic - an echo of past landscapes, or glimpses at passing and future possibilities.
